antique snuff boxes and tobacco boxes as well as antique tortoise shell and
horn. They are wonderful objects that feel good in your hand. The brass boxes are usually Dutch and are highly engraved telling stories that are
either biblical or mythical from long ago.

Bronze Bronze is usually cast it is an alloy
of copper, zinc, and tin. Antique bronze is used in the making of
candlesticks, mortars, and bells. Antique bronze
is usually 18th century and earlier, and has a warm, almost brown cast to

Antique Fireplace Screens and
Fenders The
majority of the antique fireplace fenders we stock are of two types. They
are either American and consist of period Federal fire screens, and wire
fenders, or they are of the Victorian period and consists of antique fenders
known as surrounds and bumpers. They are made of brass, wire, steel, and
occasionally copper.

Antique Firedogs
The antique fireplace always had a fender, tools and fire dogs.
Victorian fireplaces in particular had brass or steel supports called
firedogs to act as a holder for tools. Fire dogs were placed on the
hearth and the tools supported and placed
horizontally across them. We have numerous styles
and types for consideration.
